Partnerships

Thanks to the generosity of our partners, Habitat for Humanity of Ohio has provided funding and donations to help build Habitat homes for families in need.  Our state and national partners provide support in many ways to Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout Ohio.

Statewide Partnerships

Ohio Housing Trust Fund- Habitat for Humanity of Ohio partners with the Ohio Development Services Agency to provide funding to build 20 Habitat homes each year.  Since 2004, this critical funding helped build 220 homes in 15 counties for over 500 people.  The partnership has leveraged over $10 million through volunteer labor, financial contributions and in-kind donations.

Ohio Housing Finance Agency- Habitat for Humanity of Ohio partnered with the Ohio Housing Finance Agency to create a loan fund entitled, "Ohio Habitat Investment Partnership."  In five years, the funding helped build 28 homes in eight counties for 102 people.  The partnership will continue to provide an additional financing mechanism for Habitat affiliates to serve more families in need of affordable housing.

Ohio Retired Teachers Association (ORTA)- Habitat for Humanity of Ohio partnered with ORTA on a statewide volunteer initiative.  Hundreds of ORTA volunteers have descended on build sites to swing a hammer or help welcome a family to their own home.  The important work of ORTA aligns with their purpose of encouraging individuals to meet the social and economic changes and issues subsequent to their retirement.

National Partnerships

The Home Depot Foundation- is committed to repair and renovate homes of U.S. veterans through the Habitat for Humanity Repair Corps program. The foundation also supports construction of energy-efficient and sustainable homes and communities. Since 2008, The Home Depot Foundation partnership has pledged $30 million in financial and in-kind support, technical resources and training.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans- has pledged $6.8 million to Habitat for Humanity to build 113 homes in partnership with low-income families through the Thrivent Builds Homes program in calendar year 2013. The program is part of Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity, Thrivent’s unique eight-year partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. Since 2005, Thrivent Financial has donated more than $180 million, and nearly 170,000 Thrivent members have volunteered more than 3.5 million hours building homes, communities and hope.

A national partner since 2010, Wells Fargo- has provided more than $18.6 million to support affordable-housing work with low-income families, including more than $9 million to support Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. NRI constructs, repairs and rehabilitates affordable housing with low-income families in markets hit hard by foreclosures.

Whirlpool- has donated more than 140,000 ranges and ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators to new Habitat homes built in North America, serving 71,000 families. The company has sponsored more than 100 homes around the world and served more than 24,504 families in Europe alone.

The founding partner of Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness program, Valspar is Habitat’s National Paint Partner. Valspar has been helping build and maintain more beautiful communities for nearly 30 years. In September of 2010, Valspar and Habitat celebrated the donation of Valspar’s one millionth gallon of paint.
